Donna Rasmussen was elected to the SWCD Board in 2020 after several years as an Assistant Commissioner. She and her husband, Rick, live in Hesper and have two sons and two grandsons. With her brother, Doug, they own a Heritage Farm at the headwaters of North Bear Creek. She grew up in Highlandville and graduated from North Winneshiek School. She received an A. A. from Waldorf College, Forest City, IA, and a B. A. from Luther College majoring in Biology. In 2019, she retired after working 30 years in Fillmore County, Minnesota, as the County Water Plan Coordinator and the Fillmore SWCD Administrator. She is also a member of the Winneshiek County Planning Commission, Winneshiek County Historical Society, Friends of the Root River, NE IA Synod Care for Creation Network, Simple Living Farmers’ Market, and Hesper Lutheran Church. Her pastimes include walking the dogs, riding bike, gardening, singing, reading and the occasional kayak float.
